What is stewardship? It’s the church’s word for:

the Christian act of caring for and investing in

the mission and ministry of the church

out of an abundance of appreciation

for God’s gifts to us.

The work of the church is done through the generosity of our members. In order to have priests and print bulletins, keep the lights on, and hire talented people to run our family ministries and our wonderful music department, we need your help. We don’t charge for any of the services of the church, and this is how we get our funding. It is your pledge that makes all the difference.

Annual Giving Campaign

Every fall we run our annual giving campaign and ask for pledges to support the operations of the church for the coming year. Why in the fall? Because we need time to do some careful and responsible financial planning. Our Finance Committee needs to know how much we’ll have to work with so that they can develop next year’s budget and we can get ready for the work that lies ahead.

Now we ask your pledge for 2022. It’s a commitment you make out of an abundance of appreciation for God’s gifts to you.

How Much to Pledge

How much to give between you and God. The church encourages us to strive to tithe following the biblical model of proportional giving. Your pledge can also be considered an act of charity. We are happy to receive your pledge of any amount.

Some people can’t afford much but share what they have as generously as they can. Others can give more and help in larger ways. Both are wonderful. Whether you’re watching online or are here with us in person, we hope that everyone will make a pledge to support the church. Your giving makes a difference, and we are so grateful for it!

This Year's Campaign

The theme for this year’s campaign is Keeping the Faith through the Pandemic and Beyond. All the information about it is on our website, in our newsletter and is available as a printed pledge packet which we’re happy to send if you’d like one.

To make a pledge, you can fill out a pledge card, but there’s nothing special about that particular piece of paper. If you don’t have a pledge card, no problem! You can communicate your pledge to us through a phone call, email or in the mail. If possible, please do it today!

If you need more time, that’s fine too. The campaign will run for seven weeks. We will wrap it up at our celebration of All Saints Day when we’ll bless all the pledges and thank you for your generosity. Pledges can also be made at any time during the year.

How to Make a Pledge Online

It’s easy to make an online pledge. Just go to www.saintpaulsventura.org and click the word give at the top of the screen in yellow. Choose the amount you’d like to give. Select pledge payment from the drop-down menu and click the box that says, “make this a monthly donation.” Then, please send us a quick email to let us know that we can expect your monthly pledge, and you’re done! It’s quick, easy and we appreciate it so much!

If you are an online giver, and can afford to help pay the processing fee, that would be very helpful! Another great way to give is by setting up an automatic payment through your bank. And the traditional practice of giving by putting your pledge envelope in the plate each week is also greatly appreciated. Let us know, we’ll be happy to provide the envelopes. Because of your generosity, we are able to pay our employees, print bulletins and keep the electricity on. You help to make it possible for us to offer support for those who grieve, prayers for the sick, and services of celebration like baptism and weddings. You help keep our programs running and make it possible for us to provide excellent Christian Education for families as they develop their faith. Your pledge is why we have such an amazing choir. The fact that you care means that we can offer support to those in need and put our faith in action by serving our neighbors.

The pandemic has been difficult on the church. I know that doesn't surprise you because the pandemic has been hard on everyone. And even though we're not out of the woods yet, there's a great excitement that's growing at St. Paul's. More and more people are attending services in person and online. There's a wonderful energy as the Spirit moves among us offering healing, inspiration and the calling to work together to serve the world in the name of Christ.

We hope that everyone who attends St. Paul's will make a pledge of some amount to help us continue the important mission and ministry of the church throughout the pandemic and beyond. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your generosity and support of St. Paul's! We are grateful for whatever you can do to support the continuing mission and ministry of this church we love so much!
