St. Paul's to Offer Compline Service on Sunday March 8th
St. Paul's choir will offer a Compline Service this Sunday, March 8th, at 7 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary. Compline - also known as Night Prayer, or the Prayers at the End of the Day - comes from the tradition of the night prayers said before bed at the end of the monastic round of daily prayer.
This is a brief, sung (a cappella) service, lasting about 30 minutes. It is calming and centering. The church will remain open after the service for those who wish to continue their prayers, light a votive candle, or walk the candle-lit labyrinth outside. Donations will support the music ministry at St. Paul's.
St. Paul's Episcopal Church is located at 3290 Loma Vista Road in Ventura, directly across from the Ventura County Medical Center.
FEATURED MUSIC
Our Compline service will feature a newly composed setting of the Nunc dimittis - Song of Simeon by St. Paul's Choir Director, Tara Eisenhauer; Come Thou, Lord, Creator Spirit by Jeffrey Rickard (featuring St. Paul's Chimes); Antonio Lotti's Kyrie Eleison; as well as oboe and piano.
