Lenten Soup Supper Fridays
LENTEN STUDY & SOUP SUPPER
Join us Friday Evenings March 8 – April 12
6-7pm Soup Supper and Book Study in Kahler Hall
7-7:30pm Stations of the Cross in the Sanctuary
As we enjoy our supper, Rev. Liz will lead us in a discussion about Rob Bell’s book Love Wins: A book about heaven, hell, and the fate of every person who ever lived. (Available on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle. Be sure to use Amazon Smile to benefit St. Paul’s.)
In the preface, Rob tells us that Jesus answers almost every question he is asked with a question, “What do you think? How do you read it?”
Rob reminds us of ancient sages who, “said the words of the sacred text were black letters on a white page – there’s all that white space, waiting to be filled with our responses and discussions and debates and opinions and longings and desires and wisdom and insights. We read the words, and then enter into the discussion that has been going on for thousands of years across cultures and continents.”
Bring your questions and longings and desires and wisdom and we’ll enter into the discussion together.
Friday, March 8 - We’ll start with the Preface and Chapter 1
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
After dinner, you’re invited to join us as we walk the Stations of the Cross in the Sanctuary. It’s a wonderful way to expand your understanding and enrich your experience of Lent.
