Advent & Christmas Season Music
Music Ministry at St. Paul’s has something for everyone to enjoy this Advent and Christmas! The choir will be singing each week, and instrumentalists and chimes will be featured as well.
During Advent, the chime choir will play selections from Vier Wiegenlieder (Four Lullabies), by St. Paul's Music Minister, Dr. Felix Eisenhauer, to accompany the lighting of the Advent wreath. They are based on German lullabies Felix sings to his now nine month old son every night and felt appropriate since we are expecting the birth of Baby Jesus, who will also need some lullabies.
This Advent will also feature additional music written by Dr. Eisenhauer. A new arrangement of "O come, O come, Emmanuel” for chimes, organ, and woodwind instrument mixes something familiar with something new and the choir will lead the congregation in mass parts (the Sanctus and Agnus Dei) from St. Paul's Mass, composed specifically for St. Paul's congregation.
Christmas Eve music will include several guest musicians, as well as the Children’s Choir singing a surprise favorite at the 4PM service and a newly composed contemporary arrangement of Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent at the 10PM prelude. Traditional songs, Psalm, solos, carols, and movements from Messiah sung by St. Paul’s Choir, directed by Tara Eisenhauer, will intertwine with percussion, chimes, piano, organ (Sara Edwards), and other instruments such as cello, flute, and trumpet. Join us as we musically welcome the spirit of Christ as he is born in all majesty and grace.
